I will be explaining the advantages and the disadvantages as well as what popular genres use single camera techniques. I will be comparing some of the techniques to multi-camera production explaining how they are different from each other.
With the introduction of more television channels, some specifically dedicated to drama, the single camera drama production has become very popular with broadcasters and audiences. This means that there should be more opportunities for people with skills in single camera techniques to gain employment in this sector.
In a single camera production only one camera is used to capture each shot, however, this means that if a director wants to get multiple angles of a scene then that scene has to be reshot with the actors in same position and performing the same actions. Lighting and prop placement are also factors that must be considered when doing a reshot.
